Help For The Idle Family

Heya! I’m back with another blog, and it’s connected to the last blog post that I wrote last week. Sorry for the solemn mood on the last blog post, I was feeling blue when I wrote that post, but now I promise that I’m back to my old self!

Anyways, the reason why I wrote this blog is to tell you guys how I managed to help the Idle family because they had helped me when I needed help the most. Last 2 months ago, I flew back to Somalia to visit them again, and you know, talk and catch up and everything.

I arrived in Somalia, and I managed to find their house, (although I might have gotten lost for a couple of hours..) and Amina was surprised to see me again, but still welcomed me to her house.

We talked and I told her about the travels that I had after I visited Somalia, and Amina was really fascinated, because she always wanted to travel the world, but couldn’t because she still needs to take care of her family and find the money for them. Amina then admitted that she and her family were struggling with money, because Amina’s job as a street beggar was not enough to support her entire family, and the other 8 family members were struggling to find the money.

I felt pity for them, so I decided to help them. I wanted something that could last a long time, like have a long term effect that could earn them a lot of money, not just something that could run out in a week. So I thought of the perfect plan!

I asked Amina the way to the nearest market, and I know it sounds kinda weird, but I bought chickens and cows for her because I figured that would be something long-lasting. The animals could make products that could be sold to the market, and when you can earn money that way!

Amina and her family members were very thankful, and I was really happy to see them not worry anymore!

Anyways, I have to sign off now, I have a feeling I’ve spent too much time writing this blog now. See you on my next blog post, ciao!

The Idle Family

Trip To Somalia

A few months ago, I was visiting Somalia for a volunteering program that donated money, food, and clothes to the people that were in need there. Although visiting Somalia might be quite dangerous, we were accompanied by security and translators that were extremely kind to us, and by visiting Somalia, we could experience a whole new lifestyle and learn a lot of new cultures.

Getting Lost!

Anyways, I was going around with my volunteering group when I was suddenly separated and got lost! It was very terrifying because I was alone in a foreign country and had nowhere to go, and I can’t call anyone because my phone had no signal. I was panicking and about to give up when a kind family spotted me and helped me get back to my group.

Introduction

The family who I was talking about is the Idle family, and I was grateful for them helping me, because honestly, without them, I don’t think I would be here right now, writing this blog. The girl who helped me introduced herself as Amina and she’s a street beggar, although it was hard to communicate with the language barrier. Amina led me to her home, where she explained that she had 9 family members, but they were all outside at the moment.

At first, I was suspicious, of course. I was scared and confused about whether I could trust Amina or not, but I followed her anyways because I was starting to feel dehydrated from the heat of the Sun.

Being Saved

Amina led me to her house and apologised for the small space and the dirtiness of the home, but I assured her it’s fine, and she left to get water for me, she came back with a small glass of water, and we talked, before she led me outside to find my volunteering group.

Lesson Learned

While talking, I learned a big lesson from Amina and her family. Amina had to live in a small space with 9 other people, and it taught me to be grateful for what I have, because not everyone gets to be as lucky as me, and I also learned to help more people in need as best as I can. Amina and her family also taught me to be more hardworking and never give up, because even though she had herself and the other 9 family members she needs to support, she never gives up and works hard to be able to provide them with food. When I go back to Indonesia, I will start to help more and more people in need, and join more and more volunteering programs, because meeting the Idle family really opened my eyes and changed my perspective on life, and I would always forever keep the lessons that I learned in Somalia in my heart.

Adventure In Bali

This June, my family and I decided to go to Bali for the summer vacation. It was the perfect time because it was also summer’s time in Bali and we get to travel without any rain. Traveling, while it’s raining, is a big no-no because you won’t be able to enjoy the beaches and mountains that Bali had to offer for us.

Anyway! We went to many places in Bali and we had so much fun, so I decided to share it with you guys in this article.

Pantai Kuta

The first place that I went to the first time I landed in Bali was Pantai Kuta at Kuta, of course! If you have the chance to go to Bali, make sure you go to Pantai Kuta because it is one of the most favorited places by the tourists. In Pantai Kuta, you can see beautiful waves, sand that can stretch for miles and miles, drink delicious coconut water, and you could even try surfing there!

Be careful of the tourists though, usually when it is near the sunset, Kuta Beach would be very crowded, but it is not going to be super packed until you cannot move, so it will be tolerable. Just make sure you come early and secure a seat near the shoreline!

I visited the Kuta Beach right when the sun is about to set, so the view is so breathtaking. Above is the picture that I managed to take from the infamous Kuta Beach that I managed to took.

Tanah Lot

The next place that I recommend is Tanah Lot. Tanah Lot is a temple that is located at the sea, and it is truly a beautiful place to visit. You could go to the temple when the tides are not high, and you can get to see inside the temple. Unfortunately, I went to Tanah Lot when the tides are high, so I can’t go inside the temple, but I still got an amazing view of it!

In Tanah Lot, there are usually stalls that sell clothes for the locals and tourists, and they are usually cheap, as long as you can bargain because usually, they sell the tourists a higher price than the locals.

Not only that, but Tanah Lot also offers a lot of other attractions, like seeing the “Holy Snake” in a nearby cave, not for the weak hearted though! Not only that, but across the Tanah Lot, you can eat in cafes that are directly facing the Tanah Lot where you can see the amazing view, but you have to climb up a couple of steps because it’s on top of a hill.

Ubud

The next place that I recommend is Ubud. There are so many things to do in Ubud, like visiting the Sacred Monkey Forest, see beautiful rice fields, go window shopping, waterfalls, eat delicious gelato, and many many more!

In Ubud, you can see temples dating 400 years back, and you could visit Pasar Ubud, where you could buy cultural Bali stuff for a cheap price (again, as long you can bargain).

Ubud is a very big place and not as specific as the Kuta Beach or Tanah Lot, so you could visit a lot of places in Ubud. I might just say the Tegenungan waterfalls that I visited is one of the best places I’ve ever visited in Ubud, it is a beautiful mix of calmness and nature, although going down to the waterfall might take some effort because it is so far down.

That is it for my Bali blog post, I really enjoyed the time I had with my family and me in Bali, and I hope you enjoyed my article! See you on my next trip.
